Hi! I'm Luna, a self-improvement junkie who eats at least 2+ servings of chocolate a day. I started this blog during the maternity leave I built for myself, thinking I could totally balance it all once I had to get back to work. But this blog just kind of sat here for a while (years!) as I navigated balancing motherhood with a full time career. And I definitely learned some things. And I want to share all the lessons and hacks I learned with YOU to hopefully save you the years it took me to figure it out. So, hello! Welcome!
I have been married to my wonderful husband Evan for 10 years now. We are both originally from Maine and lived in Boston for 5 years before settling down in New Hampshire to start our family. We are parents to a 4 year old boy and a Boston Terrier.
I run my own business from home and am a recovering work-a-holic who decided that I wanted more BALANCE in my life. I used to think I needed to work 12 hour days and be constantly growing and achieving success in order to be happy, but I was stressed out all the time, and stress is really horrible for your health. So I decided I needed to sacrifice my need to achieve in order to have more time to be in the present and actually have a work-life balance. I cut back on my workload by 50%, gave myself set home office hours (my work stops when my husband gets home) and I learned that my world didn't crumble because of this; it actually got better. My relationship was more fulfilled and I had more time for creative thought and hobbies (Hello again, reading!) I found that blissful balance in my life.
And then, I got pregnant.
The thing about balance is, it only stays perfect if you're completely still, but life is not still, so to stay balanced, you have to work for it. And the crazy thing about being pregnant (or really, being a mom) is you kind of turn into a superhero and find yourself being capable of things you wouldn't have thought possible.
So thank you for joining me here, whether you are interested in my musings on new motherhood, my experiences in self improvement, or my journey into becoming healthier and happier. I hope my quest for that blissful balance helps you find yours, because I do think it's entirely possible to be healthy and still indulge, to have a successful career and a thriving, loving family, and to have both comfort and style in your wardrobe and home. (And as inspiring as I want to be to you, I promise to share the bad & the ugly, too, because I want this to be about real life, and real life isn't always pretty, but pushing though the ugly bits is how we get to that bliss.) Thanks again. I hope you'll stick around to see my journey. And feel free to reach out to me at anytime if there is something in particular you'd like to read about here!
xoxo,
Luna
