The nursery trend these days seems to be a mix of modern simplicity and classy sophistication. I wanted a subtle theme to keep the room from being too over-stimulating, but with touches of colorful whimsy. I'll probably still be rearranging and adding new things (as you will witness in the photos below!), but I'm happy with how it came out overall. There's something so magical about a starry night sky, and because the story of how my husband and I got together involves us hanging out for the first time to watch a meteor shower one fateful night when my car broke down on my way to work, it has extra meaning to me and my relationship with my husband. I wanted Teddy to also believe in the magic, so stars became the theme: Stars, Space, & Teddy Bears. There is only one window in this room, so I wanted to keep the walls and furniture light to keep the room bright and airy. The wall shelves were originally black, so I used marble contact paper to wrap them. Then, so that the room wouldn't be too washed out, I added the star decals and pops of primary colors to tie some of the furniture and artwork together. (And the star decals also hide the screw holes on the toy organizer and book rack. Double duty! Woohoo!) The sleeper is actually going to go into our room and we'll be putting his crib in its place, though he won't be using it till he's 6 months. (And don't worry...I'll be removing everything that's in the sleeper!) And if you're wondering about that 4th wall you don't see in the photos below, this room was orignally my craft room and I've left my sewing things and art caddies there for now so that I can (hopefully) work on projects while the baby naps. Once he's mobile, I'll be moving it all into the guest bedroom. I loved this adorable teddy bear artwork I found (especially because of the rocketship canvas!) and the colors worked wonderfully with the room. I can't wait to see my sweet baby boy playing in here. I hope he'll love it. Hope you enjoyed the tour of the nursery! If you have questions about anything, feel free to comment below! Thank you! I really hope he'll like it when he's old enough to play in here. We only really go in there for changing him at the moment.
